About the Author

Georgina de Vere set sail thirteen years ago at age 58, bitten by the bug to “Go Cruising” and has been wife and first mate living full time aboard her and her husband’s yacht, sailing the Pacific and Asia where they now sail on our second boat, “Stardancer”, a Gib Sea 47’ monohull.  She sold her business and the house, took coastal sailing and navigation night courses, went to sailing school, and got her radio license and first aid certificates. She now runs her business consultancy from her boat. Although she has written articles about her exploits in sailing magazines in USA, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, the idea of a book to encourage other women to sail never left her mind.
